Welcome to the Adult Language and Learning Community!

We know that learning a new language is the first step to independence, integration, and success. Our centre offers a range of program options to help you on your way.

PROGRAMS

LINC and ESL Language Classes

 
  • Continuous intake morning classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday

  • Classes run from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.

  • Classes offer a CLB assessment range of Literacy/Pre-Benchmark to CLB 6

  • Program runs concurrent with the school year, September to June

Morning 

  • Continuous intake afternoon classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday

  • Classes run from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

  • Classes offer a CLB assessment range of Literacy/Pre-Benchmark to CLB 6

  • Program runs concurrent with the school year, September to June

Afternoon

  • Continuous intake evening classes are scheduled Monday and Wednesday

  • Classes run from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

  • Classes offer a CLB assessment range of CLB 1-6

ELIGIBILITY

LINC (Language Instruction for New Canadians)

 

The LINC program is funded by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). This theme-based language program is assessed using the Canadian Language Benchmarks, and is designed to give Canadian Newcomers the language skills to succeed. It is free for clients who meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Permanent Resident (PR) of Canada, or Convention Refugee, or be a person in Canada whose application for Permanent Resident status is being processed in Canada and who has been informed by a letter from IRCC of the initial approval of your application subject to an admissibility assessment

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Be willing to take a free language assessment test to determine language placement levels

  • On-site childcare services and transportation assistance may be available, free of charge, for eligible LINC students.

ESL (English as a Second Language)

The ESL program is funded by the Provincial Government of Ontario, and uses the Canadian Language Benchmarks to instruct and assess student learning. It is free for clients who meet the following criteria:

  • Be a Canadian citizen, or Permanent Resident, or Refugee Claimant; or 

  • Be a provincial nominee/dependent, who has been approved through the Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program but has not yet been processed to receive permanent resident status; or 

  • Be a temporary foreign worker/dependent, who has been approved through the Canadian Experience Class but has not yet been processed to receive PR status; or

  • Be an approved foreign domestic worker under the Live-In Caregiver Program

  • Be at least 18 years old

  • Be willing to take a free language assessment test to determine language placement levels

CAREER LINK

 

Career Link is an intensive, 12-week program designed to assist employment-ready individuals in:

  • Enhancing workplace skills

  • Learning job search techniques

  • Improving interview skills

  • Understanding Canadian workplace culture

  • Creating a dynamic resume and cover letter, and increasing social media presence

  • Developing your personal brand

  • Working with job developers to find employment in your field

This program is free for eligible clients.

Students are required to demonstrate language proficiency of CLB 6 or above to participate in this program.
